A BOROUGH musical theatre group is inviting Sillhillians to attend their latest production when Footloose springs into life at the Solihull Art Complex this month.
Running across three nights – starting on Thursday (February 25th) and ending on Saturday (27th) – the Solihull on Stage Factory (SOSage) will perform the fast-paced drama complete with famous hit songs and irresistible dancing.
Based on the story of a city teenager, named Ren, who moves to a small town where rock music and dancing has been banned, the production follows Ren’s fight to challenge to town council and reverse the current rules.
Audience members can expect plenty of movement from Ren who just ‘can’t stop dancing’ – added with a slice of romance.
Lucilla Lang, organiser at the SOSage Factory, said: “The SOSage Factory started in 1992 after the Adult Society performed Oliver and some of the children wanted to carry on.
“Since then, we’ve performed plenty of shows at the Solihull Arts Complex and run a variety concert in Knowle Village Hall every summer – it really is great fun.”
Following the production of Footloose, SOSage will quickly turn their attention to recruitment for their upcoming production of Les Misérables – where a number of key roles are available.
Ms Lang told The Observer that the theatre group is looking for a range of actors to join the cast, particularly boys.
She added: “We’ll be auditioning for Les Misérables in July.
“We won’t be troubled for casting the female roles, however we want some talented male actors from the borough to come forward and be part one of the world’s most known shows.
“We’re all amateurs at the club, though work on a professional level and the support we receive from our choreographer, director and costume designers is fantastic.”
