South Pacific floats into The Core

AUDIENCES will be transported to the South Pacific when a classic musical comes to The Core.

Solihull Theatre Company will perform the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical at The Core Theatre, formerly Solihull Arts Complex, from Tuesday (May 10) to Saturday, May 14.

Set against the dramatic background of an idyllic South Pacific Island, the show explores the themes of romance, duty, and prejudice to create a story that is all hilarious, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking.

U.S. Navy nurse Nellie Forbush (Helen Gibbs) falls head-over-heels for french, plantation owner Emile De Becque (Jonathan Busk) while stationed on an island during World War II. But revelations about De Becque’s past and the developing conflict throws everything into question.

The show includes much-loved Rodgers and Hammerstein songs like Nothing Like a Dame, Wash that Man Right Outta Your Hair and Some Enchanted Evening.

Director, Andrew Johnson, said: “We’re really looking forward to performing this family favourite and hope that audiences will be singing along to all the songs they know and love.

“As well as many familiar songs, we’re hoping to put a new twist on a classic show with exciting dance sequences and innovative staging which won’t disappoint.”
