THE STRUGGLE to entertain the little ones during the winter is real.
Once the excitement of Christmas is over – and all the activities that come with it – but the cold, wet weather continues ideas dry up pretty fast.
After soft play, bowling and cinema trips have been exhausted the hunt for something weather appropriate and something they will all agree on can be one of the trickiest tasks – especially during the school holidays.
Step up Cadbury World or ‘chocolate factory’ as dubbed by my little ones.
And the appeal goes beyond the sweet treats.
One of the best things about the attraction is that after 35 years it still appeals to adults and children alike.
For the little ones the 4D cinema is a fun-filled journey with Freddo and the gang and the have a go zone where they can test their chocolate tempering and decorating skills gives them a chance to put everything they’ve seen into practise – and a provides an opportunity to get messy.
And lets not forget the chocolates that are handed out on entry and the extra nibbles on the self-guided tour – they hit the spot for all involved.
The attraction also has an interactive exhibition explaining the history of chocolate and Cadbury itself.
There’s colouring and puzzles for the children to get involved in while the adults can find out about the process of how delicious chocolate bars are made.
The social history of the factory is divulged and although the video didn’t capture the youngest of the tribe – the shaking seats certainly managed to surface a giggle.
Another perk for the grown ups was the museum part of the attraction where you can dance along to the gorilla’s beat.
There’s also a variety of Cadbury merchandise from across the years from die cast cars, vans and lorries to the much coveted Easter egg mugs.
To round off our time we headed to Freddo’s magic show with a host of magic tricks and songs to get all involved.
But be warned the cheeky frog plays more than just magic tricks!
