DON’T Panic! Dad’s Army is on its way…to Solihull’s Core Theatre next month
A brand new Dad’s Army style variety comedy tribute show, Don’t Panic! is showing on Thursday March 5. The scripted show promises all the characters and laughs of the original TV programme, and has been described as “live comedy at its very best”.
A cast of highly experienced actors take on favourite characters from the hit series including, Andy Gaskell as Captain Mainwaring, Martin Pemberton as Lance Corporal Jones, Private Godfrey and Andrew Green as Private Frank Pike. They are joined by Chris Lloyd, winner of the Variety ‘Act Of The Year’ and appearances on the Jonathan Ross ‘Big Talent Show’, as Sergeant Whittlesnake, who will lead audience sing-alongs of favourite wartime songs.
The show has been brought to the stage by the independently owned Peel Talent managed by Jack Applebaum, whose other stage hits include the long running tribute to iconic Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Big Girls Don’t Cry. Jack is also the producer of The Masters of The House, Good Vibrations, One Night of Rock and many other successful productions ranging from serious theatre to panto.
He said: “This comedic tribute to the home guard and the revered Dad’s Army TV series is pure comedy gold. With hilarious slapstick fun and audience interaction at its heart, it is a great family show.”
