Yates departs Solihull Moors for National League champions Macclesfield

SOLIHULL Moors have confirmed the departure of manager Mark Yates who has taken over at newly-promoted League Two side Macclesfield.

Yates joined the National League side on November 15 last year along with Tim Flowers.

Moors had played 20 league games and amassed just 11 points, a poor run of form which looked destined with relegation.

However, in Yates’ turn of office, Moors played 26 games, won 11, drew ten and lost five to complete the greatest of escapes and finish 18th.

At home they were unbeaten up to the very last game of the campaign, a 4-1 defeat to Eastleigh.

Had they produced that form throughout the entire season Moors might have been in with a shout of the play-offs.

A club statement said: “Moors would like to place on record its appreciation for everything Mark Yates brought to the club and we wish him every success back in the Football League.

“Discussions on his replacement are ongoing and a further announcement is imminent.”
