Watson shares the spoils as Accumulator Horse of the Year Show event

EQUESTRIAN: SOLIHULL rider Mennell Watson was in the thick of the action at this year’s Horse of the Year Show, finishing joint first in the Accumulator competition.

Watson, on board Whisper in the Wind, shared the spoils with Harrie Smolders and Cas 2 after both riders completed the course with the maximum points of 65 and in the same time of 49.12 seconds.

The event sees riders collect points for each fence they jump, with a maximum score of 65 available.

Any combinations finishing on the same figure are then separated by time.

Neither Watson or Smolders could be separated, and subsequently both picked up £5,900 in prize money for their efforts.

Louise Saywell and Feigtling finished third, posting 65 points in 49.50 seconds, while Phillip Miller and Sussex Caretino were fourth.

A total of ten combinations from the thirty-one starters attained the maximum points achieved meaning that the final placings all came down to the clock.
