Wasps reveal ticketing contingencies

Solihull Editorial 9th Jun, 2020   0

WASPS Rugby Club have announced a range of contingency ticketing plans if supporters are unable to attend the remainder of the club’s home games this season due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Premiership Rugby hopes to resume the 2019/20 season on Saturday, August 15. There have been no matches played since March 8, but clubs have been cleared to start non-contact training.

“It is important for us to give players, coaches and clubs clarity on when they can look to return,” said Premiership chief Darren Childs.

“Nothing will happen until it is safe to do so but we will do everything we can to resume the 2019/20 Gallagher Premiership Rugby campaign on August 15.”

However, in such uncertain times and in a bid to reassure supporters, Wasps have drawn up different options to reimburse season members and those who have purchased tickets for certain games if matches need to be played behind closed doors or the season is indeed cancelled.

Season members and ticket purchasers will be offered pro-rata credit which they can either put towards a season membership or match tickets for next season, while those who wish to donate their credit to support the club during the pandemic are able to do so. Refunds are also available.

The options also apply to those supporters and companies who have purchased hospitality.

All fans who could be impacted will be contacted via email with full details so they can confirm which option they would wish to choose and are advised not to contact the ticket office at this time, as it is currently closed due to furloughing.

Stephen Vaughan, Wasps Chief Executive, said: “By confirming our ticketing contingency plans, we hope to ease any concerns our loyal fans may have and provide some clarity around the questions we have been asked.

“I hope our range of solutions will cover off every supporters’ wishes and rest assured we will communicate any news concerning the 2019/20 season as soon as we are able to.

“I’d like to thank everybody for their support and also for the continuous well wishes from fans far and wide as we prepare for what lies ahead.”

Details around season membership sales for the 2020/21 season will be announced at a later date after the club has received further guidance from the relevant authorities.
