FATHER and son pairing Derek and Mason Hall were the leading points scorers for Warwickshire Bears as they slipped to a 38-29 defeat in Cardiff on Sunday.

Both sides bagged eight apiece in this National League Division Three Central fixture that was won and lost in the second quarter.

After the opening 15 minutes the scores were level at 10-10 but the home side tightened their defence after the break while scoring freely at the other end to take a decisive 24-12 lead.

Despite winning the third quarter 11-8 and drawing the final session 6-6 the Bears were unable to make up the deficit.

“I was disappointed that we lost but pleased with the comeback in the second half,” said coach Tom Masterson.

“And if some of the shots that rolled around the ring had dropped in it would have been a different game.”

Bears’ points scorers: Mason Hall 8, Derek Hall 8, Rick Powell 5, Dan Gill 4, Aimee Hilston 2, Jagdeep Tiwana 2.
