Transplant Sport football tournament to take place at Solihull Moors

Solihull Editorial 1st Mar, 2023 Updated: 1st Mar, 2023   0

THE Transplant Sport Football Tournament is set to take place at Solihull Moors Football Club later this month.

All participants have received a life-changing stem cell or organ transplant with the game to be played on Saturday, March 25 from 10am to 3pm on Moors’ 3G pitch.

Transplant Sport is the largest national charity promoting active recovery for transplant recipients and increasing awareness of the benefits of organ donation.

Tournament organiser Martin Searle said: “This is proof that organ donation works as we transplant recipients are living proof.

“We are eternally grateful to our donors, or as the saying goes with most of us – the greatest hero I never knew is the organ donor who saved my life.”

The tournament was originally due to be played on March 29 2020 only for the Covid-19 pandemic to put pay to the competition.

A number of highly regarded West Midland dignitaries will be in attendance with at least 50 players registered to take part in the six-a-side tournament.

Searle has worked closely with Solihull Moors Foundation CEO Becci Fox and her team to organise the tournament.

Registration is now open to male and female transplant recipients aged 16 and above with all players required to take a basic fitness test before the competition starts.

The entry fee for players is £10 and the fitness test comprises of a basic bleep and agility test.
