FOREST of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club’s Head Golf Professional, Alistair Davies, has been named in Golf Monthly’s top 25 coaches for the first time.

One of only six new entries on this year’s list, Alistair has been recognised by the specialist title for his extensive knowledge of the game and commitment to getting the best from his students.

Coaching since 1999, Alistair has a wealth of experience and qualifications behind him and since joining Forest of Arden in 2013 has also been awarded the second highest PGA membership recognition, the PGA Advanced Fellow Professional.

Boasting an impressive history of coaching from county, national, professional and world tournaments, he has also coached at Birmingham University since 2006.

Alistair, who first picked up a club 26 years ago at his friend’s house and hasn’t looked back, said: “While it’s great to be recognised for my achievements, the most rewarding part is helping people achieve their goals, while doing something I love.

“There’s always a challenge with golf, whether it’s your competitors or the course, you never know which one will cause you to raise your game. I think it’s the unpredictability of that which fuels my passion.”

Forest of Arden boasts two 18-hole golf courses; the Championship Arden course which has been used to host prestigious events such as the British Masters and the English Open as well as its sister course, the Aylesford course.

Alistair is fond of both these courses and revels in the challenging nature of both.

He added: “Forest of Arden is unique as it offers two great courses, they challenge you in different ways, so we have something to offer all types of golfers.”
