Solihull Editorial 23rd Mar, 2016 Updated: 21st Oct, 2016

A TEAM of youngsters from Eversfield Prep School are all smiles after finishing third in the National Schools Rugby Tournament.

The school’s Under-10s travelled to Epsom College on March 6 to take part in the event and they impressed from the very first match.

After winning three of their four group matches, the team progressed through the tournament and a 2-1 victory over Chesham Prep secured their place in the semi-finals where they came up against Ludlow Prep School.

The Eversfield boys continued to make tackle after tackle and produced some fantastic runs with the ball.

There was nothing to choose between the two sides at the final whistle and with the scoreline at 1-1 the match went to sudden death but at this point Eversfield were knocked out after Ludlow scored the deciding try.

Mr Sliney, director of sport at the school, said: “I have an immense sense of pride for the boys’ achievements and their well-earned place as the third best team nationally.”
