Third league defeat in a row for Earlswood Town

Solihull Editorial 6th Sep, 2018   0

EARLSWOOD slumped to their third successive Midland League Division Two defeat after being edged out 2-1 by Redditch Borough.

Borough deservedly took the lead after 26 minutes through a Craig Mailins header before Charles Wilkinson doubled the visitors’ lead just four minutes later after carving his way through the Earlswood defence.

Earlswood had chances to reduce the arrears through Nick Cox but the hosts went into the break 2-0 down.

After the interval Earlswood were much the better side and pulled one back when Danny Holiday slotted the ball past the advancing Josh Gandy after being played in on goal.

With 18 minutes remaining Earlswood were reduced to ten men after skipper Simon Quigley was booked for a tame foul followed but was shown a second yellow for dissent.

Despite being a man down, Earlswood pushed for the equaliser but their efforts were to no avail as Borough came away with the three points.

Earlswood make the trip to Hampton on Saturday.
