THE BATTLE between the two undefeated teams in Laidler Conference ended in victory for the Barons after they defeated the newly reformed Telford Tigers 8-4 on Sunday.

The visitors showed their league leading credentials on the three minute mark as neat interplay between Joe Henry and Josh Bruce saw the former open the scoring

And within a minute the Barons had doubled the lead when Eddie Eaton slid the puck behind the Tiger’s keeper and into the net.

Two more goals came in the shape of Josh Bruce as the Barons took a commanding 4-0 lead and the remainder of the opening period saw both sides exchange goals.

Thomas Janek and Bruce scoring for the Barons, while Karol Jets and Josh Cosgrove put two on the board for Telford.

The second period saw Niklas Ottosson score Solihull’s seventh goal mid-period.

However the Tigers were still not out of the game and made the most of their chances gifted to them.

And a two-man breakaway on 38 minutes saw Macauley Heywood keep the Tigers in touching distance going into the final 20 minutes.

The final period saw the Barons take control but the scoreline remained as it was until five minutes from the end.

Eddie Eaton was fed the puck from behind the net by Niklas Ottosson for Solihull’s final goal of the game.

The Barons are back on home ice this Sunday when the Hull Jets make their only trip of the season to Solihull for a double points game.
