Teenager Mark Kimber set for first Portimao appearance

Solihull Editorial 13th Sep, 2016 Updated: 21st Oct, 2016

SOLIHULL schoolboy Mark Kimber will be racing at this year’s Rotax Max Grand Finals after taking second place in the overall Championship this season.

The first tickets were handed out to British drivers for this year’s event and the hugely experienced Strawberry Racing is looking strong.

Kimber has continued to improve and impress the karting community for someone still relatively new to the Junior level and his second place finish as the championship finished last year demonstrated his ability in the sport.

The Rotax Max Grand Finals will be taking place at the International Karting Circuit of Portimao in the Algarve, Portugal.

It will be the 16th edition of the Finals and the second time has been held in Portimao, but for Kimber it will be his first appearance at the event.

A total of 288 of the best kart drivers from around the world will be competing in four different categories and Kimber is confident he can be standing on the podium come finals day.
