Success for Solihull Swimming Club at Ponds Forge in Sheffield

SOLIHULL Swimming Club took 48 swimmers to Sheffield Ponds Forge on Saturday November 21 to take part in Sheffield City annual open meet to give swimmers a chance to swim in an Olympic size pool.

The club enjoyed a very successful day gaining 67 awards and they amassed 35 trophies for the swimmers that came top three in their events and then also gained another incredible 32 medals for the swimmers coming fourth to sixth.

Many of the club’s younger swimmers took part aged just nine and ten and swimming in a 50m event for the first time.

Head coach Dean Barguss was delighted with the performance of the team with numerous PB’s achieved.




Running simultaneously with the individual events was a team competition, SSC came an incredible third out of 25 teams, just one point off second place. With so many great achievements it is difficult to pick out individuals but congratulations goes to 14-year-old Abdur Rahim Sharif who competed in five events and achieved top two places.

Also achieving top six placings in all their events were 9 year old Imogen Kielstra, 10 Year Ben Kelly and 18 Year Old Junior Captain Rachel Davis.
