WORLD RECORD: BOROUGH strongman Paddy Doyle proved taking a step back can often lead to two steps forward as he broke his latest world record.
Doyle, whose list of strength, speed and stamina records has now reached 589, completed a cross country speed march in Wroxall at distances over 3km and 4km while carrying a 40lbs backpack.
He completed the 3km route in 27mins 31secs, while the 4km effort took 35mins 6secs.
The Balsall Common based record breaker said: “One of the straps on the backpack came loose, which meant I had to carry to pack with one strap under my arm.
“It was very restrictive.
“Having a shoulder operation recently didn’t help either. But I cut out the pain and focussed on reaching the check points.”
