MOTORSPORT: JOSHUA Boyd produced a solid performance in his first race for Jones Dorling Racing after finishing 26th in the opening round of the Pirellii National Superstock 1000 Championship.

The 24-year-old, from Tamworth-in-Arden, took to the Donington Park track last weekend where the Jones Dorling Racing team put out two riders, with Ashley Beech also competing.

The first round of the MCE British Superbike Championship saw the introduction of a new format in the 100-mile two part race for the support series.

In part one, Boyd finished 19th after a great start and battled his way to 11th place in difficult conditions until the track dried out near the end of the first 18-lap stint.

After a seamless and fantastic pit stop from both pit crews, the former Henley-in-Arden pupil started on row seven with his teammate Beech.

But Boyd had a harder second stint with some setting problems and a near miss on the last corner which saw him finish 26th, finishing in 26th place.

Boyd has been riding motorcycles since the age of 16 and he rode as a novice in the 2014 No Limits Championship aiming to learn all the circuits.

Building up the pace to qualify for BSB Superstock, he went into Thundersport GB in 2015 to complete the signatures for his National License.
