Solihull swimmers impress at first Coventry open meet

SOLIHULL Swimming Club enjoyed a successful start to the season by coming away from the Coventry and District Championships with no fewer than 64 medals and 40 final places.

A total of 29 Solihull swimmers made the journey to Coventry and competed in 180 events between them.

There were several outstanding performances, with 10-year-old Laila Elfandi achieving top three places in all of her events and she went to be crowned the best girl in her age group after winning the 100m individual medlay and both the 50m and 200m backstroke events.

Deen Ahmed was also another outstanding performer with the 11-year-old also finishing top three in all of his events and he won no fewer than six events.




Elizabeth Aston was also a winner after taking gold in the 50m breastroke for in the 12-year age category.

Also making the finals of the 50m and 100m events were Dan Moore, Abbie Llewlyn, Tasha Barguss, Abi Green, Charlotte Mclure, Ben Kelly, Aurelio Lencioni, Ben Davis, Zoƫ Mason, Chris Mitchell and Reece Harvey.


The 200m and 400m events were also hotly contested and Ben Kelly, Elizabeth Aston, Abigail Green, Aurelio Lencioni, Reece Harvey, Oliver Porter, Ella Buzzard, Tasha Barguss, Heidi Rhodes-James and Georgia Ameer-Beg all achieved medals.
