SOLIHULL rider Liam Delves has made the decision to move up to the Superstock 600 class from the Hel Performance British MotoStar Championship.
The 18-year-old has joined Team IMR and will campaign the team’s R6 Yamaha for remaining rounds of the season.
“I felt the time was right to move on and would like to thank the Stauff Academy and Dean Reynolds for the opportunity to help develop and ride the DR Moto bike in the HEL Performance Motostar championship for the past two seasons and would like to wish the team best wishes for the future,” said Delves.
“I am so excited to be joining the team and really looking forward to a new challenge on the R6.
“It is going to be a whole new learning curve for me and I would like to thank Ian Moffitt and the team for this great opportunity.”
Delves rode to a fine 13th place in the highly competitive Superstock 600 class at Silverstone on Sunday to register his first championship points in the class.
Starting his race from a sixth row grid position, he got off to a good start and moved up into 16th place in the first two laps.
He dropped a place to 17th on lap three but as he settled into his race he began to reel in the riders ahead.
He passed Cameron Lee on lap six and then moved up into the points by passing James Nagy four laps later.
Delves was on a roll and began to move further up the field and crossed the finish line in a strong 13th place to pick up his first points in his new championship.
The next round is at Oulton Park from Friday to Sunday.
