FOOTBALL: YOUNG Chelsea goalkeeper Nathan Baxter has joined Solihull Moors on loan until the end of the season.

The promising 18-year-old has risen through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and has won FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League medals with the Premier League champions.

“It’s a big boost for the football club to bring in such a young talent from Chelsea for the second-half of the season,” said Moors boss Liam McDonald.

“With Nathan Vaughan injured at this moment in time, we’ve been a short in that area so Nathan’s addition is much needed and we’re delighted to have him at The Moors.

“Coming from a club of Chelsea’s calibre, Nathan’s ability is undoubted and I personally look forward to playing a part in the player’s on-going development alongside our goalkeeping coach Darren Acton.”

Baxter will take on the number 24 jersey and will remain at Moors until May 14.

Described by his parent club as ‘a goalkeeper who is good with his feet, very agile and a talented shot-stopper’, Baxter played every minute of Chelsea’s 2015/16 FA Youth Cup-winning campaign.

Club director Jed McCrory added: “I’m delighted to have helped negotiate this deal to bring in a talented youngster from the current Premier League leaders and I’m sure Solihull Moors fans will welcome Nathan to the club.

“I believe this is a real coup for the Moors and shows the strides we are making as a football club both on and off the pitch.

“It speaks volumes for a club with the global reputation of Chelsea to trust us with Nathan’s development as a young professional at this crucial stage in his career.”
