SOLIHULL Men’s Water Polo Team are celebrating after crushing two opponents in on weekend – seeing them promoted to Division One.
The team travelled to Swansea for two of the most important matches of the season which saw Solihull first pitted against Polytechnic where they went onto have a close match winning 15-12.
They then went onto stun the strong side of Sheffield smashing them in a glorious match which finished 12-5.
The team, coached by Phil Powell, has now been promoted to Great Britain’s top flight, ranking them as one of the top eight teams across the UK.
Top scorers this season included 18-years-old Jordan Elliot who scored 44 goals, Peter Farkas with 27 goals and Phil Powell who scored 21 goals along with 16-year-old Matt Madden who had 18 goals.
Since Solihull joined the British Water Polo League four years ago in Division Five they have won consecutive promotions through the table each year despite having a very young team, with 12 of the 16 players used this season being teenagers.
