Solihull maintain unbeaten record in British Water Polo League

SOLIHULL men’s waterpolo team continued their domination in the British Water Polo League season after claiming back-to-back victories over the weekend.

The team had already won their opening seven matches this season and travelled to Lancaster for the last set of games in the first phase of the 2015/16 season.

And their winning run continued thanks to a 9-5 win against West London Penguin and that was followed by a 14-9 home win against Croydon.

Solihull’s impressive start in the BWPL Division Two means they now go into the Championship One for the second phase of the season.

What has been particularly encouraging this season is the youthfulness of the team compared with their rivals.

Of the 16 players used so far this season, only four are aged over 19 so there is every chance they will continue to improve as the season progresses.

Top scorers to date are Jordan Elliot (26), Phil Powell (14), Peter Farkas (10), Michal Rybnikar (9) and Matt Madden (8).

Championship One will be tough test and it will provide new challenges for the team.  The first matches will take place in the new 50 metre pool at the University of Surrey over the weekend of December 5 and 6.
