A TEAM of boxers from Solihull delivered a series of knockout punches by coming away from a major European Inter-club Championship in Copenhagen with two gold medals and a silver.

Josh Da Silva, Mitch Redmond, Louis Phillips and Elisse Glynn are all members of the ever expanding Solihull Boxing Club and all four crossed the English channel to represent England at the prestigious Denmark Cup.

The competition took place in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, over the weekend of September 25-26.

They came up against some of the finest young talent in Europe and managed to come away with three medals.

Da Silva won gold in the under-57kg category while heavyweight Redmond also claimed gold and 13-year-old Eleese Glynn took silver in the 52kg division.

Solihull’s other representative, Phillips, 17, suffered a narrow first round defeat in the under 81kg division.

“The club has done Solihull proud,” said Richard Da Silva, of local wet room specialists OT Bathrooms, who sponsored the trip.

“They were great ambassadors for our town, and they have all proved themselves extremely talented young boxers with great potential.”
