THEY may have made hard work of it but Solihull Blossomfield Ladies’ first team edged Beeston 3-2 in a thrilling encounter to claim all three points.
Bloss started their home game very strongly and went ahead in only the second minute through a Jenny Parkes cross from the right which found Denise Fountain in space and she beat the visiting goalkeeper with a neat reverse stick strike.
The hosts continued their momentum and scored a second through a well worked short corner routine and again, Denise connected from the left with a rocket into the back of the net.
Beeston came back into the half and had a period of possession before Bloss scored a third through an Anna Wellings strike off another short corner routine.
The second half saw Bloss’s performance dip and Beeston came back strongly. A strong Beeston strike saw Nell Rodrigues save twice before the ball was parried into the back of the net.
And the visitors continued their momentum and scored a second in open play to give them a life-line and set up a tense finish.
They were unlucky not to equalize late on but the score remained 3-2 to the hosts and Denise Fountain was voted player of the match thanks to her brace.
