RUGBY UNION - Birmingham and Solihull Bees to host President's Day next weekend

Solihull Editorial 27th Apr, 2024   0

BIRMINGHAM and Solihull Bees RFC are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the club’s famous win against Wasps at their President’s Day next weekend.

The Bees beat Wasps in the quarter-finals of the Powergen Cup back in 2004 in arguably the biggest shock in English rugby at the time.

And the Solihull club are marking the occasion with their President’s Day with members of the 2004 in attendance at Portway.

On the day, a President’s team will play Guanos RFC at 3pm while a charity auction and a raffle draw will also take place to raise funds for the Matt Gallagher Foundation in support of motor neurone disease (MND).

The bar’s open from 12.30pm with family friendly activities and game from 1pm to 2.30pm while a charity auction will take place from 5.15pm with the raffle draw to follow.

Collections will take place throughout the day with all proceeds going to the Matt Gallagher Foundation.
