Perfect start for Olton

OLTON & West Warwickshire Ladies started the new Conference West season with an 8-1 victory over Exeter.

Within six minutes, Alice Conquest had set Olton on the way to what was to be a huge win with a goal from open play.

New recruit Sade Gerald then scored in the 21st and 24th minutes to put Olton 3-0 up.

Sally Walton added the fourth eight minutes later.

Exeter then pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half Walton scored a penalty stroke in the 38th minute to restore Olton’s four-goal advantage.

Twelve minutes later Lucy Smith made it 6-1, with Gerald and Walton completing the scoring in the 56th and 69th minutes respectively.

Olton make the trip to Swansea on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Olton’s Men’s team opened up their Conference West campaign with a 3-1 away win over Havant.

Havant took the lead in the 13th minute but Olton responded four minutes later through Edwin Waters.

Tom Mallett struck in the 28th minute to give the visitors a slender lead at the break.

It took until the 64th minute to ensure Olton walked away with the victory, with Martin Ebbage firing home for 3-1.

Olton entertain Cardiff & Met on Sunday.
