OLTON LADIES were no match for unbeaten Conference West leaders Stourport who maintained their 100 per cent record with a 4-2 victory.
Olton found themselves a goal down to a penalty corner in the tenth minute and a second 16 minutes later.
Sade Gerald pulled one back in the 29th minute but Stourport scored a minute later.
It took until 25 minutes into the second period before Gerald scored her second to give Olton a chance of a comeback.
However, Stourport scored their fourth in the 66th minute to secure the victory.
There was better luck for the Olton men’s squad who edged out University of Birmingham 3-2 to move top of the Conference West standings.
University of Birmingham started the brighter and scored a goal from open play in the tenth minute.
The game was being played at a tremendous pace and it took another ten minutes of end-to-end play before Tom Mallett finished off a flowing team move for 1-1.
Both defences held firm for the rest of the half and the scoreline stayed level going into the break.
Eight minutes into the second half the students went ahead with a second goal from open play.
However, five minutes later Olton were on level terms after a Pete Jackson drag flick from a penalty corner.
In the last minute Mallett scored a second goal to give Olton a priceless win.
