HOCKEY: OLTON Ladies are through to the final of the Over 35s Cup after knocking out defending champions Bowden.
Despite being without key player Mandy Gatherer who missed out through injury, Olton took an early lead which they held through Carole Quill and two further goals from Lucy Tate and Sally Walton put them in a comfortable position.
Manchester-based Bowden did pull a goal back but it proved to be little more than a consolation.
Olton now have a chance of making it through to the final of the competition but a difficult match at the Lee Valley Stadium against last year’s runners-up Canterbury lies in their way.
