National call-ups for five Solihull basketballers

BASKETBALL: FIVE schoolboy basketball players from Solihull are reaping the rewards of their hard work after being selected to play in the region’s top National League Under 14s teams.

Darshan Gill, 14, is a starter in the unbeaten City of Birmingam North Premier team and attends Lode Heath School with Faaris Mughal, 13, a forward in the City of Birmingham’s conference team.

Also making progress are Joseph Tuddenham, 13 and Alasan Njie-Morgan, 11, both of Langley school – while Karthik Bharadwaj, 13, of Shirley also features in the second city squad.

Communications manager at the City of Birmingham basketball team Sunny Gill said: “It’s great these lads are flying the flag for Solihull basketballers, it’s a fun sport which is growing all the time and is fun to play.

“Three of the boys came through CoB’s Project Hub session that is held at Langley School every Saturday at 4pm.

“It’s satisfying knowing the initiative is helping Solihull kids stay active, as well as teaching life lessons that only team sports like basketball can.”
