SOLIHULL Moors boss Marcus Bignot believes pre-season will prepare his side for the battles ahead in their debut season in the Vanarama National League.
Moors officially began their summer preparation on Saturday when they hosted Oxford United at The Automated Technology Group Stadium.
Following promotion as champions last season, the club are preparing themselves for a debut season in the top tier of non-league football.
And the manager insists that a tough pre-season will help them prepare for a testing campaign in the big league.
“As a club we are making fantastic progress and this is highlighted by the standard of opposition that we have coming up here over the next few weeks with Oxford United, Birmingham City, Walsall and Shrewsbury Town all sending their first-team squads to take us on,” said Bignot.
“We’ll be using these games to formulate our plans, it’s an unforgiving schedule of matches but it will stand us in really good stead for the battles ahead and will mirror the kind of challenges we will face once the seasons gets under way on August 6th.
“It’s a great opportunity for the lads to build on the momentum of last season. I have reminded them that we can’t afford to deviate from what got us here in the first place and we have to maintain the hard working and focused environment that exists here.
“The supporters also have an important role to play in this. You gave us superb backing throughout the course of last season and more of the same is going to be required.”
