Liam Delves ready for new challenge

Solihull Editorial 3rd Aug, 2020   0

IN PREPARATION for the six-round 2020 National Superstock 600cc Championship, Solihull rider Liam Delves took part in the official test day at Silverstone where he rode well on the Santander Salt TAG Racing Yamaha to become the fastest rider on the day at the end of five sessions.

Despite being on the track with his own class, the stock 600s were mixed in with the more powerful Ducati Performance TriOption Cup competitors but this did not faze Delves who got his head down to take the fastest lap of the day with a time of 57.430 seconds.

This was a tenth of a second faster than the quickest Ducati and 0.25s faster than Ben Luxton in his own class and this bodes well for the opening round of the championship which takes place at Donington Park on the short National circuit this coming weekend (August 7-9).

After the test, 20-year-old Delves said: “It felt mega to get back out on track after such a long time.

“My Yamaha R6 felt on point and I would like to say a big thank you to my team who worked hard all day to give me a solid set-up, which enabled me to end the day in P1.

“I can’t wait to get out on track at Donington on Friday for the first free practice session.”

The timetable for the first round of the 2020 series is: Friday – free practice – 11.15am and 2.50pm; Saturday – qualifying – 11.45am; Sunday – warm-up – 9am, 20-lap race – 11am.
