Knowle Primary School students celebrate winning the Solihull School Netball League

SIXTEEN Year 6 pupils at Knowle CE Primary Academy in the West Midlands have made school sporting history by climbing to the top of this season’s Solihull School Netball League in the primary school division.

For many years Knowle has competed in the netball league with little success, however, three years ago, the team’s fortunes began to change.

Wearing a new personalised kit funded by the Parents’ Association, the team of 16 pupils went from strength to strength, with their confidence and performance improving at every match – the most memorable result being the first match win at 31-3.

The team went on to finish the season in first place within League One of the Solihull Schools Netball League and in third place within Solihull Schools Netball League Two.

Teacher and netball coach, Miss Fulker, said: “I attended many netball matches during my first year with the school, and I could see the potential for a more competitive team. This has been a three year journey to reach this standard and it’s great to see just how far the team has come and how they have inspired next year’s team.”

The Principal, Miss Godsall, added: “I couldn’t be more proud of our wonderful pupils and the hard work and dedication they have shown. We wish each of the girls the very best of luck at their Secondary Schools in September and hope that they continue to play netball at a competitive level.”
