CRICKET: KNOWLE and Dorridge played host to West Bromwich Dartmouth on Saturday and took the majority of the points in a winning draw, following a fantastic victory over Shrewsbury last weekend.

After West Brom’s captain won the toss and put the home side into bat, the away side got off to a flying start with the early wicket of opening batsmen Alex Phillips for just three.

George Worker continued his outstanding form with the bat as he and Ateeq Javid steadied the ship with a partnership of 140.

Sam Reddish and Dominic Harding both fell after the partnership though, leaving the score at 153-4.

However Worker wasn’t phased by the wickets falling at the other end and put on a superb display, scoring 173 from 152 balls, leaving his side on a total of 282-8 from 55 overs.

West Bromwich openers Kadeer Ali (30) and Amit John (46) got their side off to a positive start before Ali was bowled by Jack Grundy (1-27).

Worker dismissed West Brom’s numbers three & four in quick succession, but Rawlston Tappin scored an impressive 58 from 66 balls in the middle overs, before he was trapped lbw

Knowle and Dorridge took another couple of wickets but couldn’t quite bowl West Bromwich Dartmouth out.

The total after 55 overs was 206-7 – with the winning draw meaning K&D share the top spot with Berkswell.
