INTERNATIONAL competition prepared Warwickshire Bears for two competitive league games as the Henley-In-Arden based side wrapped up three successive victories.
The Bears first faced a friendly tie against the United Arab Emirates, who were in the UK to complete a training camp before competing in the Gulf Championships.
From tip-off the game was a physical battle with the Bears having to defend strongly and shoot accurately.
By half-time the Bears led 27-22, and their advantaged was extended throughout the third quarter as they added another 20 points to their tally.
The last quarter provided an exciting end to the game as U.A.E battled back into the game and gradually chipped away at the home side’s lead.
However with the clock against them, the visiting nation eventually ran out of time as Warwickshire earned a 58-50 win.
Warwickshire’s success continued into the weekend as they first defeated Cardiff Met Archers 39-66 in the BWB 1st Division South before the second team battled to a 14-32 win against Hampshire Harriers in the Third Division South West.
The Bears travelled to Cardiff and quickly took an early lead which they held throughout the game.
Forward Ben Haigh was back in action while Jacob Robinson and Siobhan Fitzpatrick starred for the Bears as they continued to reach their target of earning safety in the new division.
Meanwhile 24 hours later Bears Two extended their unbeaten run with a victory in Southampton.
The visiting side controlled the game at both ends and quickly signalled their intent to Hampshire who struggled to make an impact on the stronger Bears side.
Bears are still looking for a sponsor for the team and are aiming to recruit new members for next season.
