DELIGHTED boss Tim Flowers hailed Solihull Moors’ fighting spirit as they picked up their third straight National League win.

After hammering visitors Bromley 5-0 on Saturday thanks to goals from Alex Gudger, Darren Carter, Jermaine Hylton, Daniel Wright and Jamey Osborne, Moors enjoyed more home comforts on Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory over struggling Dagenham & Redbridge.

Moors opened the scoring in the 20th minute when a weak headed back pass from Luke Pennell was intercepted by Wright who calmly slotted the ball under the advancing Elliot Justham.

Flowers’ men then secured the three points on the cusp of full-time when substitute Hylton chased down a hopeful punt from Jordan Murphy before firing home from inside the area.

The result moved Moors up to fifth in the table and Flowers was keen to point out the importance of grinding out results.

“That’s National League football – you’ve got to tough it out,” he said.

“When we were asked to dig deep defensively, we did so.

“It’s very difficult to be that good every time you play. On Saturday against Bromley we were absolutely magnificent.

“It was as good a performance as I’ve seen at non-League level for a long long time.

“We had tremendous cutting edge and we were ruthless.

“Tuesday night was different. Fair play to Dagenham as they were good.

“They defended manfully, won a lot of first contacts off our restarts and I don’t think our delivery or movement was anywhere near good enough.

“We got our noses in front and after that I thought we stuttered through the rest of the game until Hylton finished it off.”

Moors will be hoping to make it four wins on the spin on Saturday when they make the trip to fourth-from-bottom Havant & Waterlooville.

“The run of results that we’re on now is absolutely fantastic but we’ll have to improve if we’re going to get a result on Saturday at Havant,” said Flowers.

“I’ve watched their game at Ebbsfleet. I’ve got to be honest – they were excellent.

“They got another great point on Tuesday night at Barnet and it’ll be a really tough game there.”
