ICE HOCKEY - Vixens make perfect start to New Year with Guildford victory

SOLIHULL Vixens made the perfect start to the New Year with a 7-2 victory away at Guildford Lightning to maintain their unbeaten record.

Jodie Alderson-Smith scored a superb hat-trick with further goals from Grace Garbett, Saffron Allen, Katie Henry and Laura Horwood at the Guildford Spectrum.

Vixens made a rapid start and took the lead after just 24 seconds when Alderson-Smith opened the scoring before grabbing her second of the game with 41 seconds on the clock.

And Garbett further extended Solihull’s lead at 12.18 to put the Vixens in command at the end of the first period.




Despite losing a player for a hooking penalty, Solihull added their fourth goal through Allen at 20.58 before Alderson-Smith completed her hat-trick at 27.25.

And Henry chipped in with Solihull’s sixth goal at 33.14 before Guildford pulled a goal back at 37.14 as Vixens ended the second period with a five-goal lead.


Horwood completed the scoring for Vixens at 47.59 before Guildford grabbed a late consolation at 54.54 as Solihull claimed a comfortable victory.

Solihull are next in action at home to Streatham Storm on Saturday, January 14 with the face-off at 6.25pm at Planet Ice Solihull.
