SOLIHULL Vixens maintained their perfect start to the season with a 7-1 victory against newly-promoted opponents Whitley Bay.

A brace from Jodie Alderson-Smith and further goals from Katie Henry, Alisha Potts, Grace Garbett, Sarah Hutchinson and Saffron Allen sealed a comfortable win at Planet Ice Solihull.

And Vixens took the lead after just 45 seconds as Alderson-Smith broke the deadlock before Henry, who set up the opener, scored a goal of her own on nine minutes.

Solihull were firmly in command as Potts scored her first Elite League goal for Vixens, assisted by Alderson-Smith, before Garbett made it four at the end of the first period.

Whitley scored the only goal of the second period as Vixens netminder Michelle Franklin made way for debutant Kayla Poole in the Vixens net.

Vixens stretched their lead in the third period as Hutchinson, Allen and Alderson-Smith all found the net while Henry provided two assists to become the club’s all-time top points scorer, overtaking Deb Warwick.

Solihull are next in action against Queen Bees on Saturday, October 21 with the face-off at 6.15pm at Planet Ice Solihull.
