Heavy defeat for Solihull Municipal at Olton

SOLIHULL Municipal fell to an eight-wicket defeat away at Olton in the Warwickshire League Premier Division.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat on a green tinged track but the bold decision by Kevin Bissett did not work out as Michael Collins picked up seven wickets and conceded just 54 runs from a 12 over burst.

Nathan Boyce hit a composed 43 off 54 balls before being last man out after being caught by Rich Weaver off Michael Salerno with the total on 99.

Weaver exploited the gaps in the field, as Municipal set attacking fields, and he struck 12 boundaries in an unbeaten 61 from 51 balls as he guided his team to an eight wicket success.

Jon Stanley (2/33) was the sole wicket taker for Solihull. The result saw Municipal drop below Four Oaks Saints in the league but they have a good chance to reverse that situation when they host the Sutton Coldfield based side this week.
