SOLIHULL’s Elise Glynn added another title to her growing collection.

The 16-year-old, who is the defending European Junior Champion at her age group, has added National Champion to her role of honour after taking the gold medal in her category at the England Boxing National Youth Championships held in Doncaster.

Fighting at 57kg, Glynn won all her three bouts with a unanimous points decision, culminating in a convincing victory over Ellie Wilson from Gateshead in the final.

Taking the gold medal has now put her in strong contention for selection for the European Championships in Turin, Italy, next month.

Glynn’s proud dad Peter said: “Her family, friends and coaches are all really thrilled for her yet again. She trains six days a week and works so hard, and this is another reward for her dedication.

“She boxed superbly in Doncaster, beating three quality opponents to win the gold medal, and was the only female who boxed on three consecutive days. She has achieved so much in her first year as a youth boxer.”

Glynn, who lives in Hockley Heath and is a student at Arden Academy in Knowle, has represented England 14 times, winning 13 times, including the European Championship in Bulgaria last year.
