SOLIHULL athlete Madeleine Whapples claimed two medals at the School Games at Loughborough University.
The Solihull & Small Heath AC star took gold in the 4x300m on Saturday, following up her silver in the 4xMixed Medley last Friday.
It capped off a memorable season for the 15-year-old who was an U17 England Schools finalist in the 300m, U17 Warwickshire champion in the 200m and 300m as well as U17 Midland champion in the 300m.
“To be picked for the England/Midland squad was an honour and I had an amazing time,” she said.
“It gave me an insight as to what a major competition would be like and I gained some incredible experiences.
“That feeling when we had won the gold medal was like nothing I had ever felt before, just pure happiness and excitement ran through my body and I just couldn’t stop smiling, knowing all my hard work through my winter training had finally paid off.
“It was truly an experience I will never ever forget.”
