WITH SPRING in the air and with the courts in great condition ready for the tennis season, Knowle & Dorridge Racquets Club held their first tournament of the year.

A friendly mixed doubles tournament was held on Saturday where 24 club members took part in what proved to be a very sociable afternoon of tennis involving five rounds of matches swapping courts and partners.

Four players emerged with the highest scores and an exciting final set took place between Ellie Barbieri and Kai Rai who took on Sue Cox and Jonathon Worrell, with the latter winning.

On May 16 (11am-2pm) there will be an Open Day at the club where new players are welcome to attend and try out a wide range of sports including squash, racketball and tennis.

PEOPLE of all ages and abilities are being encouraged to take up tennis as part of Solihull Tennis Club’s ‘Spectacular Open Day’.

This Saturday from 9am-3pm the club will open its doors to all members and non-members of any age or standard to try out the sport and experience the club’s tennis courts.

The fun-filled day will see a team of LTA Licensed coaches offer training and hold practise sessions as well as offering tips and advice on how to improve your game.

There will be a prize draw raffle which is open to everyone and food and drink will also be available during the course of the day.
