Fourth trophy for Earlswood Cricket Club

A REMARKABLE season for Earlswood Cricket Club was capped off by the Under-17s winning the club’s fourth trophy out of a possible seven in 2015.

The team beat Studley in a repeat of their Under-15 Warwickshire League final two years ago this time in the Cotswold Hills League.

In the final, Studley won the toss and put Earlswood into bat and despite losing Amy Weir early on, 14-year-old man of the match Josh Craven produced another impressive display with the bat to score a well-made 56.

He was ably supported by Joe Pietrafesa (19) as both hit 6s and Studley dropped five catches including Josh twice and he made them pay as Earls got up to 132 off their 20 overs.

Cheered on by a large Earlswood following, wickets tumbled regularly in the Studley reply.

Josh Craven, Joe Pietrafesa, Michael Collins and James Thorne all took two wickets as they strangled the Studley batsmen.

A good catch low down by Amy Weir off Matt Collins saw off the dangerous Chris Regan and that knocked the stuffing out of Studley.  Elliot Weir and Dan Dixon finished off proceedings with a wicket each as Studley collapsed to 74 all out.
