ANDY Whing praised his side’s ‘character’ and ‘heart’ after Solihull Moors ended the year with a 2-0 home win against Tamworth.
A brace from Conor Wilkinson at Damson Park earned Moors a third straight league win with Solihull sixth in the National League table.
And Whing heaped praise on match-winner Wilkinson who has now scored 12 goals in the league for Moors this season.
Whing said: “We were excellent on and off the ball, we defended heroically, we’ve had character and heart in the last couple of weeks.
“We know we’ve got quality down the other end, all in all it was an outstanding display on and off the ball.
“They couldn’t live with him [Wilkinson] in the first half, he’s some player, he’s a top player, we knew that when we signed him.
“We’ve found a formation where we get the best out of him and those around him.”
Moors broke the deadlock on 20 minutes when Wilkinson received a pass just inside the Tamworth half and drove towards goal before his swerving shot from 20-yards out beat Jas Singh.
And Wilkinson doubled the home side’s lead on 59 minutes after some excellent footwork created a shooting chance in the box as the striker coolly found the bottom left corner.
Solihull are next in action against Aldershot Town on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the EBB Stadium.
