SOLIHULL Moors Women could only field nine players in their valiant 3-2 defeat against Nantwich Town in the FA Cup.

Following the departure of the club’s coaching staff and some of the playing staff, including captain Rebecca Knight, Moors found themselves down to bare bones.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Moors produced a valiant performance as Paige Gardiner and Molly Watters struck in a narrow defeat in Third Round Qualifying at Swansway Stadium.

Moors broke the deadlock on 32 minutes when Gardiner chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to put Solihull ahead.

However, Nantwich equalised on the stroke of half time when Bridie Harding produced a stunning effort from distance to draw the home side level.

The Dabbers completed the turnaround eight minutes after the break as Amanda Fallon found the net from close range.

And the home side took command of the tie when Libby Bulkeley’s cross-shot evaded the Solihull goalkeeper.

Nantwich missed a penalty to extend their lead before Watters reduced the deficit late on as Moors just fell short to exit the competition at the Third Round Qualifying stage.
