SOLIHULL Moors Women captain Rebecca Knight has left the club and claims it has ‘no respect’ for the women’s team.
Knight’s departure comes just days after the manager and coaching staff all left the club amid a number of allegations made by the players and backed by the recently-departed staff.
The Moors captain confirmed her departure on X and hopes to find a new team which ‘values its women’s section’.
Knight posted on X: “I have decided to step away from Solihull Moors Women as captain due to a variety of things. There has been a lot of media coverage recently regarding the club and I just cannot play for a club who has no respect for its women’s set up.
“I would like to thank all the coaches and players for such an amazing three years. Unfortunately, enough is enough and it’s time for me to find a team that values its women’s section.”
The resignations of the coaching staff come just weeks after women’s player Alex Liddiard posted a statement on behalf of the club’s playing staff on X which also accused the club of failing to provide ‘basic equipment’ and ‘no transportation to away matches’.
The players also said the club’s failure to secure a pitch meant they had to forfeit an FAWNL Cup game against West Bromwich Albion Women earlier in the season.
Following the release of the players’ statement, manager Blaymires released a statement on behalf of the women’s coaching staff supporting the players’ claims.
The Foundation then released a statement addressing the allegations made.
Moors chairman Darryl Eales revealed his dismay regarding the allegations and acted swiftly to address a number of issues raised.
However, Moors Women saw their weekend fixture against Loughborough cancelled following the departure of Blaymires and his coaching staff.
