SOLIHULL Moors secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season following a 2-0 victory away at Gateshead.

Late goals from Bradley Stevenson and Jacob Wakeling earned Moors an impressive win on the road at the Gateshead International Stadium.

The result means Solihull sit 12th in the National League table, six points outside of the play-off places.

Gateshead went close early on as veteran striker Frank Nouble fired wide while Alex Whitmore’s header travelled the wrong side of the post at the other end.

And Moors goalkeeper Laurie Walker then stretched low down to his right to keep out Fenton John’s effort from close range.

Solihull called Gateshead stopper Tiernan Brooks into action early in the second period as he kept out Conor Wilkinson’s driven effort.

And Brooks then made a superb fingertip save to prevent Stevenson’s looping header from finding the net.

However, Moors eventually broke the deadlock from the resulting corner on 75 minutes as Stevenson poked home a loose ball from close range after Brooks failed to gather Sam Bowen’s initial effort.

The visitors went in search of a second goal as Brooks parried Wakeling’s low curling effort from 20-yards out.

And Solihull sealed the points on 89 minutes as Wakeling stabbed a loose ball into the net from close range after Max Melbourne blocked Oscar Rutherford’s initial goalbound shot with Brooks beaten.

Solihull are next in action against Stratford Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday, November 11 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
