SOLIHULL Moors saw their three-game unbeaten run in the league come to an abrupt end following a 4-1 defeat at Rochdale.
The home side raced into a three-goal lead after just 20 minutes and extended their advantage early in the second half at the Crown Oil Arena.
A consolation goal from Callum McFarlane reduced the deficit for Moors who lost for the first time under caretaker boss James Quinn.
The result means Solihull sit 19th in the National League table, two points above the relegation zone.
Moors made the worst possible start as Ryan East put the home side ahead after just eight minutes when he finished at the second attempt from close range.
And the hosts doubled their lead on 17 minutes when East skilfully guided home a cross from the right at the near post.
Rochdale all but sealed the points three minutes later as Devante Rodney finished Connor McBride’s cross from the right from 12-yards out.
The home side struck again five minutes after the interval when Sam Beckwith exchanged passes with McBride before curling a shot in the bottom right corner.
Moors responded on 58 minutes as McFarlane finished Oscar Rutherford’s low ball in from the right from eight-yards out.
Solihull are next in action against Brackley Town on Saturday, September 27 with kick-off at 3pm at Damson Park.
