ANDY Whing felt Solihull Moors played better against 11-men after rescuing a late point in a 1-1 draw away at 10-man Maidenhead United.

The home side had Thierry Latty-Fairweather sent off just before half time only for Reece Smith to put the hosts ahead after the break at York Road.

Moors snatched a point in the sixth minute of injury time when Alex Whitmore found the net and boss Whing admitted Solihull struggled to break down the home side after they went down to 10-men.

Whing said: “The first half was really scrappy, when we did move the ball and we made passes, we created three or four very good opportunties.

“We were way better against 11-men, sometimes against 10-men they sit back and get back into their shape really quickly and we found it difficult.

“We didn’t move the ball well enough in the second half, we’ve got to be miles better than that.

“It’s a frustrating point because it’s a mistake that has cost us, I think that’s 10 mistakes leading to goals this season, we keep giving needless goals away.

“We’re chasing the game then, the lads kept going and deserved their goal at the end, we’ve snatched a point at the end.

“Some of the lads were miles off it and you can’t carry players, it’s just a frustrating performance, we’ll take the point and move on.

“If we’ve got any aspirations of going up and getting into the play-offs, we’ve got to start winning games of football.

“The next four or five games, we’re playing a lot of teams in and around the relegation zone, we need to claw points back that we’ve given away.”

The game burst into life two minutes before half time when Latty-Fairweather lunged in on Michael Adu-Poku and the referee brandished a straight red card.

However, Moors failed to make the man advantage count as Smith fired a shot into the bottom left corner on 69 minutes after Maidenhead pounced on a loose touch by Whitmore.

Moors desperately searched for an equaliser and drew level at the death when Whitmore turned home Jamey Osborne’s corner from the right from six-yards out to atone for his error.

Solihull are next in action against AFC Fylde on Saturday, December 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Damson Park.
