FREE-SCORING Solihull Moors continued their ruthless streak in front of goal with a 5-1 victory away at 10-man Aldershot Town.

A brace from Joe Sbarra and further goals from Conor Wilkinson, Alex Whitmore and Emmanuel Sonupe sealed a comprehensive victory for the visitors at the EBB Stadium.

Aldershot had Christy Grogan sent off when already five goals behind only for Josh Barrett to score a consolation for the home side late on.

The result means Solihull sit ninth in the National League table, four points outside of the play-off places.

Chris Millington’s side have now scored 17 goals in their last four league matches.

Moors made the perfect start when Scott High cut the ball back to Sbarra who took two touches before coolly sliding a shot into the net from 12-yards out with just six minutes on the clock.

And the visitors doubled their lead on 38 minutes when Jacob Wakeling’s shot from just outside the penalty area deflected off Wilkinson and looped into the net.

Solihull almost sealed the points before the break as Sbarra squared the ball to Wilkinson in the box only for Sam Inwood to make a stunning block to keep out the striker’s goalbound effort from close range with the goalkeeper beaten.

However, Moors extended their lead from the resulting corner on the stroke of half time as Whitmore rose highest to guide Jamey Osborne’s corner into the net from eight-yards out.

And the visitors struck again eight minutes into first-half injury time with Aldershot stopper Coniah Boyce-Clarke unable to keep out Sbarra’s first time effort as the midfielder grabbed his second goal of the game.

Moors added a fifth goal after the break on 68 minutes when Sonupe finished into an empty net after from six-yards out after Oscar Rutherford released Darius Lipsiuc down the right channel.

The game went from bad to worse for Aldershot three minutes later as Christy Grogan saw red after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession.

However, the home side scored a consolation goal six minutes from time when Barrett flicked the ball into the net from six-yards out via the aid of the crossbar.

Solihull are next in action against Carlisle United on Saturday, January 17 with kick-off at 3pm at Damson Park.
