MATT Taylor insists his Solihull Moors side must change their mindset next season following a final day draw against Dagenham and Redbridge.

Moors ended the season with a 1-1 draw at Damson Park – a result which confirmed Dagenham’s relegation from the Nartional League.

Solihull finished the campaign in 14th place, just six points above the relegation zone.

Taylor wants his players to be more robust next season and admits the summer transfer window will be important for the club.

Taylor said: “Next season we’ve got aims and aspirations and we want to do better than this season.

“I wanted to finish in the top-half of the league, we haven’t done that, that’s disappointing.

“We’ve got to change our mindset next season, it’s too easy to be injured at this football club, there’s too many players who haven’t played a big enough part since I’ve been in the building.

“We’ve got a busy summer ahead, it’s going to be a massively important summer for the football club.

“We’ve not played as well as we wanted but we’ve found a way to get back into the game.

“We looked a little bit edgy, it’s always going to be that way when you’re playing against a team that’s fighting for their lives.

“It’s not nice to know that something you’ve had a direct hand in has caused somebody else pain but ultimately we’ve got to concentrate on what we’re doing.”

Moors went into the final day targeting a top-half finish while opponents Dagenham needed to match or better Wealdstone’s result to stay in the division.

And the Daggers broke the deadlock on 32 minutes when Oscar Rutherford finished from six-yards out after Laurie Walker could only push Shiloh Remy’s initial effort into the scorer’s path.

However, Moors equalised on 75 minutes as Duku superbly guided Jamey Osborne’s corner from the right into the net via the aid of the post.

The visitors pushed for a winner in the closing stages as Walker pushed Aaron Loupalo-Bi’s low effort behind for a corner.

And victory for Taylor’s former club Wealdstone against play-off bound Halifax Town confirmed Dagenham’s relegation.
